SVTFOE Season 3 Trailer 4 - Analysis [Potential Spoilers]
The STARCON Warning System retweeted the Tweet for the trailer we're analyzing. This analysis will be a bit more piece-by-piece analysis at the beginning before predictions located in the last paragraph. It may contain some information we already knew.
The first 14 seconds doesn't have much information for analysis. Our analysis starts at the 15 second mark of the trailer.
To start off with, Star is seen using the All Seeing Eye to see how Marco was doing, only to find him depressed. This is the third time she's used the All Seeing Eye and the second time to do so to check on Marco.
We then see a scene that seems to have possibly been taking earlier in the episode where Queen Moon was trapped in vines with Star trying to rescue her, clearly incapable of defeating Toffee at the time. We later see Marco make an appearance with King River. It is hard to tell based off of this trailer whether or not he or Star met again yet, but our prediction is that Star was out with Queen Moon when Marco used his scissors to get to Mewni, so we are currently predicting that they have not met up yet.
Ludo is seen with King River hostage, clearly trying to take over as King of Mewni, and Ludo seems to want revenge on the Butterfly family after his castle blew up at the end of Season 1, saying "Say goodbye to your freedom." The next scene we see Moon clearly concerned that Toffee will find them, and we see once again that Ludo is now taken over by Toffee, which so far in the trailer has only happened when Star or Queen Moon are around, possibly showing that unlike Ludo who just wants power, Toffee is at the time more focused on personal revenge against the two.
Star is seen battling the rats again, showing that Ludo is Ludo again for the moment or that she beat Toffee. The only known way so far that Star can beat Toffee is by using the same spell she cast in "Page Turner" when Marco saw the Dark Magic pages and became evil. It seems that what actually happened was the monster arm possessed Marco, just like Toffee possessed Ludo. If Star can cast whatever spell Glossaryck had her use for Marco on Toffee, that threat can be eliminated.
Ludo's wand seems to be acting up, this time possibly because Toffee still has control over Ludo. The trailer is clearly not chronological, jumping all over the place in the episode. The most interesting of the next scenes was an image of Moon's wand turning dark/evil, which, if we use the other trailer, may be a flashback to when she had summoned Dark Magic to destroy Toffee back when she was a princess. Toffee is also seen in his full body, which gives us more proof to support this scene was a flashback since Ludo still existed throughout the trailer. Additionally, we later see Princess Moon looking at the book of spells, and after that part of the scene from the very first trailer where Princess Moon summoned Dark Magic, so it may be a flashback that occurs directly after Moon says "Toffee killed my mother", but it could occur at the beginning or elsewhere.
At the very end, we hear Queen Moon saying "Eclipsa's alive, and I made a deal with her." We can infer from this that it was Eclipsa we saw in "Crystal Clear", and she had been preserved in the crystal. When Princess Moon summoned Dark Magic, she also summoned the power of Eclipsa and may have made a deal with her she is forced to fulfill. We don't know yet any more information on the topic, but the episode shows in 10 days (July 15), so we can wait a little.
We predict that the war will eventually be won. Toffee is most likely defeated using the spell we mentioned earlier, although he could have been defeated some other, unknown way. A quick defeat is very unlikely as the fight may stretch over a few battles. Ludo tries to take over the thrown, but without his wand working properly, he is defeated by King River's small army and possibly Star and Marco. Moon eventually has to fulfill an unknown deal with Eclipsa at some point in time in the episode. Star is likely to return to Earth after the war is won. We currently cannot make any more predictions than what are listed in this paragraph nor do we want to: we'd rather see the episode on July 15 and be surprised. Since you guys can see the trailer, we shortened our analysis to only include less obvious parts or predictions and analyses of other parts.
